Know Your Silver

Know Your Silver

Not all silver is created equal. Here is everything you need to know before you buy.

What Does 925 Mean?

When you see "925" stamped on a piece of jewelry, it means the metal is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals typically copper for added strength. This is the international standard for sterling silver and the only grade Silver Corner works with.

Pure silver (99.9%) is actually too soft to be used in jewelry. The small addition of copper gives it durability without sacrificing its natural beauty or brilliance.

925 Silver vs Silver-Plated

This is the most important distinction most shoppers never learn:

Silver-plated jewelry is made from a base metal often brass or zinc with an extremely thin layer of silver on the outside. It looks identical at first, but within weeks or months, the plating wears away and the base metal beneath begins to show sometimes turning skin green or black.

925 sterling silver is solid silver throughout. It does not peel, chip, or reveal a cheaper metal underneath. What you see is what it is all the way through.

925 Silver vs Gold

Gold carries prestige and tradition. But for everyday wear, 925 sterling silver offers remarkable advantages a cool, clean brilliance that suits any style, exceptional durability and a price point that lets you own multiple meaningful pieces rather than one you are afraid to wear.

At Silver Corner, we believe silver is not the affordable alternative to gold. It is a choice in its own right made by people with taste who understand value.

How to Spot Fake Silver

Look for the 925 stamp usually found on clasps, inner rings, or the back of pendants. Genuine sterling silver will not turn your skin green with regular wear, will not smell metallic and will tarnish slowly and evenly rather than peeling or chipping.

Why Silver Corner Only Uses 925

We made a decision from day one never compromise on material. Every single piece in our collection, whether ready-made or custom crafted, is made exclusively from 925 sterling silver. No plating. No shortcuts. No exceptions.

Because you deserve to know exactly what you are wearing.
